At Bay Seniors, we are all volunteers! It is only with the support of our members who volunteer that we are able to offer the programs and services we do. From working in the seniors’ information centre to repairing members’ homes, from board and committee work to administrative support, there are many ways to become involved. We greatly appreciate the time and contributions of our volunteers!
Our current opportunities are below. You can also read about volunteer opportunities on our Facebook page and in our newsletters.
To volunteer you must become a member of Bay Seniors. There is no age restriction for joining. As a member, you will be covered by our comprehensive insurance policy and receive the benefits of membership.

Current volunteer opportunities
Sewing Team: Bay Seniors volunteers create beautiful sewn items to sell, with proceeds supporting our programs and services. We are seeking volunteers to join this group. We provide the materials and instructions. Volunteers work at home at their own pace on their own machines. Items are for sale at the Community Enterprise Centre and at selected Bay Seniors and community events. (Note: This is not the same as the Sew Far, Sew Good machine-sewing interest group.)
Brush & Tree: The Brush & Tree Program helps Bay Seniors members by removing fallen trees or brush that may be blocking or interfering with the use of driveways, outbuildings or yards. Requests are coming in and we need a robust team to call on. We work primarily on Saturdays, although work on other days of the week is possible. The program slows down during the summer months.
Home Maintenance: Our volunteers help eligible Bay Seniors members find solutions to their home maintenance needs. We are looking for volunteers who have skills like carpentry, painting, drywalling, etc. An acceptable police record check, paid by Bay Seniors, is required.
Bay Seniors is 100% volunteer-run and we require a steady influx of volunteers to operate. We have an urgent need for a volunteer recruiter to help promote positions to our members, respond to volunteer inquiries, and match people with available positions. This position is suited for someone who is outgoing and who enjoys getting to know others. Work is done at home, on one’s own time, 5-10 hours per month. Please complete the volunteer application here. Questions? Please email volunteer@bayseniors.ca or call 902-820-3334.
