Volunteer

Our Association’s success is attributed to the work of Volunteers; be they Board Members, Committee Members, Information Centre or Speakers Series organizers, those who book the rooms and draft the ads and put up flyers, and those who host our meetings, advertise and support our events. The hundreds of volunteer hours combined with seed funding provided by the Chebucto West Community Health Board, gifts in kind by community members and businesses make our work possible. We are grateful for the support!

Bay Seniors encourages members to share their skills and life experiences by volunteering for association projects and activities. We are currently looking for volunteers in the roles listed below. If you have a favourite talent not mentioned below, please contact us– we may have a continuing activity where your involvement can be tailored to your personal preference!

If you wish to know more about volunteer opportunities, please contact us or fill out our Volunteer Application Form.

Our greatest needs for volunteers at this time are:
  • Co-leaders to assist Bay Seniors activity and project committees. A full list of our activities and programs can be found on our website.
  • Bay Seniors Information Office volunteers answer the telephone and meeting with individuals who visit the office, provide information on Bay Seniors activities and projects, accept new memberships and help local residents access various government programs for seniors. Volunteers usually help for 2 hours Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10 am and 2 pm.  We are currently looking for help on both Tuesday and Thursday.
  • Grocery bus helpers to accompany shoppers, giving whatever help is needed. The 2.5 hour commitment includes a social gathering with refreshments provided by the grocery stores.
  • Fabric cutters and sewers for the Reusable Bag project. A simple cutting template is provided, so no previous experience is necessary. Sewing kits are provided and can be sewn at home.

Volunteer Application

The Bay Seniors volunteer team is dedicated to making the community better for seniors and their families, making a positive contribution to the community, making new friends and acquaintances, and having fun while making a difference.

As a not for profit, Bay Seniors relies on the expertise and interests of people in our community to help us represent the interests of seniors and their families in our area. We would welcome the opportunity to talk with you about what you could lend to the Association and what the Association could provide for you.

Please complete the form below and click the “Submit” button. We will contact you to set a time to discuss our mutual interests and how together we can contribute to our community.

If you do not wish to use the on-line form below, click here to download the form, which can be printed out, filled in, and returned by mail or in person to the Information Centre.
