Bay Seniors is proud to work with other community organizations and events to support our community. Since 2009, Bay Seniors has also contributed toward the development of important services and activities (see below).
BayRides
BayRides, a registered charity, is a community-based transportation service that is available to all residents and offers accessible, reliable, affordable door-to-door transportation in the St. Margaret’s Bay area, from West Dover to Yankeetown Road and from Sheldrake Lake to the HRM County Line in Hubbards.
Bay Treasure Chest
The Bay Treasure Chest Association is a partnership of 14 local nonprofit organizations, including Bay Seniors. The association holds a weekly 50/50 toonie draw, with proceeds going to support the work of the partner organizations. The draw also provides an honorarium each week to various other community organizations and projects and funds a scholarship program for students at two high schools in the draw’s catchment area.
St. Margaret’s Bay Community Enterprise Centre
The St. Margaret’s Bay Community Enterprise Centre is a shared work and meeting space that offers memberships to community groups and home-based and other small businesses, as well as occasional rental space.
St. Margaret’s Bay Housing Coalition
The St. Margaret’s Bay Housing Coalition is working with other community members and organizations to help address the lack of housing diversity in our area, with an emphasis on affordable, accessible, and sustainable solutions for all.
Community events
Bay Seniors volunteers and members are always ready to lend their time, skills, and knowledge to support special events in our community. Some events our members have stepped up for are Christmas in the Bay, Winter in the Bay, Share the Harvest, Flags for Food, and the Peggy’s Cove Festival of the Arts, among others.
Support for other nonprofit organizations
Bay Seniors helps promote activities of other nonprofit organizations that are free or almost free, of interest to seniors, and offered in the St. Margaret’s Bay area—in person or virtually. Brief notices are share in our monthly newsletter and on our Facebook page. Please submit information about your activity to communications@bayseniors.ca.
Policy on information from businesses
Bay Seniors offers free listings for local organizations and businesses in our Home Maintenance Directory and our Healthcare Directory.
